What is CIPT Certification?
The CIPT is the first and only certification of its kind worldwide. It was launched by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) in 2014. It was created in order to meet the growing need that only tech pros can fill—securing data privacy and implementing security in the IT environment, from product to service lifecycles. The certification from IAPP is viewed globally as the benchmark in privacy certification. This is because it is one of the only certifications in the industry accredited under ANSI/ISO specifications and recognized under standards set by the International Accreditation Forum.
Who is it for?
Privacy best practices apply to a broad spectrum of IT roles, it is not restricted to just security. It is of immense importance to those industries that have to follow a range of privacy laws and regulations such as the health care or financial sector.
While there are no strict prerequisites to take the CIPT exam, if you work in IT, security, or engineering then taking the CIPT exam will give you an edge over others in the field. The CIPT exam is most relevant to those that develop, engineer, audit IT services, applications, and devices, among others.

IAPP in its 2017 Salary Survey found that holding at least one IAPP credential can lead to a higher median salary. Those with CIPT were found to have the highest median salaries at $130,000, followed by CIPM and CIPP credential holders.
